General Description:

Basalt Fiber Tech offers a special basalt chopped strand for epoxy, phenolic, vinyl ester and polyester resins. This product is mostly recommended for manufacture of frictional materials. In case of different application, special sizing composition is also possible.

Applications:

  • Concrete Improvement

    While reaching the complexly best technical and economical results in fiber concrete in comparison with different types of reinforcement fibers, leading position as natural mineral fiber, is held by basalt chopped fiber, produced by our company. Confirmation for this are the tests conducted in International research centers and the effect that is reached while using the product in actual projects.

    Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands is the essential product for eliminating surface cracks in massive concretes; to reach stability equal toughness while different types of loads on steel concrete constructions; to decrease an effect of back full off while shotcreting; to increase resistance to wearing out effect for concrete surface; improvement of anti-freezing and water resistance parameters; to faster the drying process in massive concretes.

  • Shotcreting

    It is exceptionally important to use Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands in different purpose tunnel construction, as usage of only 3,5kg basalt fiber is optimally enough for mixing per 1m³ concrete. The result reached in this case in terms of back falling and toughness parameters equals to the result that would be get by adding in case of adding 20 kg metal fiber. It is important that usage of basalt fiber is convenient in case of both, wet and dry shotcreting processes. Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands was successfully used while constructing one of car tunnels in Luxemburg. Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands gives an opportunity to get crack and hit resistant tunnel primary surface with the less thick layer than it would be while using ordinary concrete.

  • Floors

    Usage of Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands in different purpose floors gives opportunity to not only eliminate cracks, but also enables to reduce amount of fittings or reduce the thickness of the concrete, as Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands is distributed equally throughout whole volume and does not only insure improved parameters of surface toughness, but for the whole element. Test results for square tiles (see report) show that by using 24 mm basalt fiber (with the amount of 3.5 kg/m³), it is able to reach effective bending toughness 0.31 N/mm². This pointer is much less than in case of metal fiber reinforced concrete pointer, while metal fiber consistence in volume is 40 kg/m³

  • Assembled steel concrete constructions

    While using Basalt Chopped Strands in assembling steel concrete construction with low amount, it enables us to not only avoid negative effect of surface cracks, but also to decrease the time for taking out from gauge (expedite the time of drying). It also eradicates damages while taking out process and improves quality of surface treatment and visual outlook. It is not less important that Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands is equally distributed throughout the whole volume that creates effect of impressively stabile and equal toughness within the whole volume of steel concrete construction. Adding high amount of Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands (10-12 kg/mm³) in steel-concrete channels and in put in elements gives an opportunity to fully replace traditional metal carcass. With the following from the price of the construction is discarded not only the metal cost, but also cost for creating metal carcass (which is not less important).

  • Expedition of the concrete drying process

    This characteristic of Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands is exceptionally important while unstoppable process of pouring in massive concretes:

    • It is able to expedite Hydropower station construction.
    • To fasten drying time of the elements produced by steaming process and to change temperature regime of drying (to decrease temperature of drying).
    • Decrease the taking out time of assembled steel-concrete elements from gauge.
    • It is able to speed up the time of entering to exploitation process of self-levelling concretes.
  • Wear Resistance

    Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands is sharply increasing surface wearing out resistance, as the concrete reinforcement mineral fiber that is produced from natural stone. This effect is exceptionally important in:

    • Warehouse floors and road construction to increase wearing out resistance of concrete surfaces;
    • While construction of shore protection elements, to ensure their long term function;
    • Open shopping malls, where intensive pedestrian activity is;
    • Floors of feeding rack type cattle-breeding farms;
  • Resistance in aggressive environment

    Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands as the material conducted from acid and alkali resistant basalt fibers is one of those elements that are used to create concrete constructions, which can function in aggressive environment, where usage metal fibers is forbidden because of its corrosion, and chemical fibers show their positive effect.

    Therefore usage of Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands in concrete construction will give them ability to serve in aggressive environment for long term, for example:

    • Shore protection elements;
    • Floors of chemical productions;
    • Floors of feeding rack type cattle-breeding farms;
    • For usage in concrete elements of railway road infrastructure
  • Freeze resistance and water impermeability

    Usage of Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands improves stability of concrete in freezing environment and water impermeability parameters (see publication). That is why concrete elements on the basis of basalt fiber function effectively in long term extreme conditions (underwater bridges and cold regions).This effect of Basalt Fiber Tech Chopped Strands is exceptionally important in hydro power station massive concrete constructions to insure their long term functioning. As steel concrete structures in dam reservoirs require high parameters of water impermeability and freeze resistance in winter to eliminate negative effect of water level intense change.
